About the Event
LiveLung support groups are educational, patient-driven, patient-centered, and community-engaging.
We are excited to welcome guest speakers, Mark Awad, M.D., Ph.D., Byeong Yoon, Ph.D., and Pam Boswell, RN-BC, OCN, ONN-CG (T), for a panel discussion and question/answer session about biomarker awareness and testing, BAM 'Biomarker Awareness Moment': Learning about your Biomarker and Why it Matters, facilitated by Terri Conneran, Founder of KRAS Kickers. So bring your questions for a lively and important discussion! Following the discussion, the meeting will continue in a support group style format.

About the Speakers
Mark Awad, M.D., Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and Director of the Lowe Center for Thoracic Oncology at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. He received his undergraduate degree from Harvard University and his M.D. and Ph.D. degrees from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. His translational research focus is on identifying biomarkers of response and resistance to targeted therapies and immunotherapies in lung cancer. He is the principal investigator of several clinical trials for patients with thoracic malignancies and collaborates closely with laboratory-based investigators.
Byeong Yoon, Ph.D., is an Executive Director within the Oncology Global Medical Affairs team at Amgen. In his role, Byeong oversees the team responsible for leading the medical affairs strategy for Amgen’s oncology drugs in supportive care, prostate cancer, and other solid tumors as well as diagnostics/biomarkers. Byeong has been in the pharmaceutical industry for over 16 years and in that time cancer treatment has evolved tremendously, allowing for more personalized treatment based on a patient’s cancer. Because of that, he is passionate about biomarker testing and supporting efforts to help patients get tested. Byeong received his undergraduate and doctorate degrees at the University of California, Los Angeles and is a proud Bruin.
Pam Boswell, RN-BC, OCN, ONN-CG (T), is a Nurse Navigator at Hayworth Cancer Center in High Point, NC and the 2019 Advocate Award Winner: Healthcare Provider of the Year through the Lung Cancer Initiative of North Carolina.
